A Mar Vista institution
for two decades.
Celestes Tailoring opened on Venice Boulevard in 2003. Twenty-two years later, Celeste still runs the front, and David handles fittings and the more complex builds in the back.
Most of the work that walks through the door is alterations — hems, take-ins, taper jobs on suits and slacks, dress fittings on a tight timeline. The shop turns those around fast and doesn't oversell.
Past that, it's the harder work: vintage dress restoration (Celeste once rebuilt a 1950s blue taffeta dress that came in a size too small), wedding gowns, leather and outerwear, embroidery, uniform repairs, and clothing built from scratch.
The pricing is honest — Yelp regulars use words like "amazing price" more often than not — and Celeste and David are the kind of people who'll tell you when a piece isn't worth fixing. That's rare.
